The characters who inhabit this potent work run the gamut from rebel priest to repentant thief, remorseful spy to former Presidents. The alliance is a covert group of disparate personalities who tangle with the malign forces in the world, whether they be fifth-column actors or crooked cops. One of the most interesting aspects of the novel is the story of reformed thief Arthur Davies. Davies was a world-class poacher of priceless art, but his capture by a member of the alliance provided him a second chance, fighting for a cause greater than himself. Author Ray Keating has penned a delightful read that shines with elements of mystery, intrigue, and tolerance. Subversion is a story that will attract those who enjoy a great mystery, spy, and historical drama.
